DREEMS, the preeminent fashion launchpad for independent fashion designers that offers retail, PR, business development, and consulting services, announced today that they’re partnering with the School of Fashion at Parsons School of Design on an exclusive pop-up featuring select graduates’ collections during New York Fashion Week this September. DREEMS will provide the talented Parsons graduates with a unique opportunity to sell their collections at DREEMS concept store in the prime SoHo neighborhood, on the same block as Issey Miyake, Chanel, Balmain, and Tiffany.
The partnership was developed in response to an industry that only recently has seen funding dollars come it’s way. Record amounts of funding are being raised and the brands that are cashing in are those who develop cozy relationships with consumers. But relationship building and business development don’t come easy — or cheap. And that’s where DREEMS comes in.
Offering a location in the heart of New York’s SoHo neighborhood, independent designers housed at DREEMS have access to the world’s most coveted demographic without the burden of owning retail space in this prime area. With numerous retailers shuttering doors, many are wary to take chances on emerging brands. DREEMS merchandises the collections, offers PR support and consulting services, among others. Alternatively, consumers are met with a unique experience when they enter DREEMS, which is the only multi-brand concept store in the area , young labels.
“We’re so thrilled to partner with Parsons and this amazing group of talented graduates,” said DREEMS Co-Founder, Alise Trautmane, who has also completed AAS Fashion Marketing program at Parsons herself after switching from law & business background to fashion entrepreneurship. “DREEMS prides itself on curating a selection of talented, independent designers that are innovative, unique, and have great growth potential. Parsons was a natural partner as they are the leading university for developing such talent. We are disrupting traditional retail scene by providing emerging, independent designers with an absolute prime retail location, which they would never be able to afford on their own to sell their unique collections direct-to-consumer, a PR showroom, and other services such as merchandising, consulting, and marketing, to make their product attractive and sellable to luxury consumers. ”
Each of the featured designers is a graduate of Parsons and was hand-picked by DREEMS for inclusion in the exclusive showcase. Featured designers include CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Finalist and genderless brand, Private Policy; the intricate and romantic gowns and ready-to-wear designs of Sienna Li; Baax, a Senagali-made women’s ready-to-wear brand by
Sophie Zinga; handbags by Parsons x Kering Empowerment Imagination design finalist, Song Ryoo; and Helen Chenghui Zhang, whose designs have been featured on Vogue.com.
“When Alise and her Co-Founder Sai approached us with this idea, we knew it was special — not only for us but for our students and alumni as well,” said Burak Cakmak, Dean of The School of Fashion at Parsons. “DREEMS offers an outstanding platform for emerging designers who need support and this event is a beautiful extension of the valuable services they offer.”
All of the designers will be featured inside DREEMS SoHo concept store, located at 120 Wooster Street, from September 11 through September 30.
