The 1920s-set Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries was one of Australia’s most popular series worldwide and now it’s been updated to the swinging 1960s. Geraldine Hakewill takes over the mantle from Essie Davis as her gorgeously reckless niece Peregrine Fisher in MS FISHER’S MODERN MURDER MYSTERIES. Check out the fun International Trailer HERE.
The series won its time slot in Australia and now makes its US Premiere on Acorn TV on Monday, Apr. 29 with four feature-length mysteries. The new series features every bit the embodiment of female empowerment, style, glamour and adventure as the 1920s-set original. The series embraces the changing times of the era by showcasing strong, accomplished female characters who are supportive of each other’s endeavors, as well as James Bond-like touches in the characters of Birdie (the “M” equivalent) and her gadget-designing brother, Samuel (Toby Truslove, the “Q”).
Synopsis: When the famous aunt she never knew, Phryne Fisher, goes missing over the highlands of New Guinea, the gorgeously reckless Peregrine Fisher (Geraldine Hakewill, Wanted) inherits a windfall. Peregrine sets out to become a world-class private detective in her own right, aided by the handsome, straitlaced Detective James Steed (Joel Jackson) and with the unerring guidance of The Adventuresses’ Club, a group of exceptional women of which her celebrated aunt was a member. A natural rule breaker, Peregrine is fearless, fun, and charmingly down-to-earth, as well as having a keen instinct for solving crimes. With newfound wealth and The Adventuresses to hone her rough edges and become the family she’s never had, Peregrine is unstoppable.
