New York Fashion Week is a reminder of the beauty of creativity and the wonder of colors in nature, as it sent down SS18 womenswear collections down the runways. Gabriela Hearst modern looks with color palettes that were a perhaps a nod to history is a example of great expression of fashion and the imagination. Accordion tops and skirts with asymmetrical silhouettes are looks we can expect this coming SS18.

Maryam Nassir Zadeh’s show with her inclusion of sequin embellishments is a playful approach to fashion and what we can expect for SS18 as well along with usual great color usage in her collections. LRS designs reflected a tailored approach for womenswear with the usage of keyhole cut-out dresses and cropped tank and straps made from hardware while utilizing color-blocking, perhaps suggesting a more conceptual approach to designing.

The trend/s for SS18 may not be that obvious as yet from the latest collections from NYFW though we love the abundance of yellows, so we’re taking notes on this as a possible new color trend for SS18. With the continuous growing movement of natural hair, we’re pleased to see a lot more natural hair models on the runway this season too. We love all the new suggestions regardless and come next year, we can be sure fashionistas will be deciding what look/s they’ll make theirs.
