The Oscars 2015 is Hollywood’s biggest night for celebrating the movies and of course fashion too. As we get ready to see who will win for best actor and actress, as well as best picture, all eyes will be on the red carpet. While we get ready to tune in to the fashion arrivals to see breathtaking gowns, jewels and suits, we’ve listed ten of our past favorite looks.
We’ll never forget when Jennifer Lawrence fell in her flawless Dior gown, when Charlize Theron showed up in her chic pixie hairdo or when Angelina Jolie arrived in Atelier Versace. Who can remember when Julia Roberts won for best actress in ‘Erin Brokovich’ wearing a vintage black and white Valentino in 2001? One of the most creative looks on the Oscars red carpet that is timeless, chic and glamorous and still talked about is Sharon Stone wearing a Vera Wang skirt with a Gap shirt in 1998. While actors and actresses rely heavily on stylists to dress them for red carpets and other events, I am impressed by stars who select their own clothes. It will be interesting to see too, what the new trends will be or who’ll be the new breakout designer. In 2002, Halle Berry won for best actress in ‘Monster’s Ball’ in a still talked about Elie Saab gown. It was the first time that a Lebanese designer dressed an actress for the Oscars which instantly put him on the fashion map.
Of course, there are iconic fashion flops too, like Bjork in her infamous swan dress designed by Marjan Pejoski, that is still emulated for humor or worn during Halloween. Yes, sometimes even bad fashion can become iconic too but we’ll just focus on the winning looks because after all, it’s the Oscars. What is your favorite Oscars red carpet fashion look from our list. Check us out on Facebook tomorrow night as we list and tweet our new favorite looks at the Oscars 2015.
