Haspel, which invented and popularized the seersucker suit more than 100 years ago, affirms and advances this staple for Spring/Summer 2015, presenting a modern vision of the summer uniform. The traditional blue-and-cream seersucker suit kaleidoscopes into color with versions in tan, red, green, optic white and tone-on-tone. Tailored pieces hang out with sportswear pieces as military-inspired outerwear, jacquard woven shirting, windbreaker-weight topcoats and naval deck knits are layered in.
“We wanted to revisit Haspel’s roots this season” said Sam Shipley of design team Shipley & Halmos. “For Fall 2014, we used a lot of heavier fabrics and had a big emphasis on texture, but the spring collection is all about seersucker. It’s a very versatile fabric that is not just for derby parties and country clubs anymore.” Part retrospective, part reinvention, Haspel stretches its iconic suit beyond its lawn party past to offer a clean, modern vision of the famed puckered cotton.
Haspel’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection is presented by and features Jockey slim fit crew tees and low-rise underwear. Jockey has been creating innovative quality-crafted products since 1876 and in its current campaign, “Supporting Greatness,” it celebrates this legacy of supporting great men of the past and today – literally, emotionally and functionally – with a superior product.
