celebrating special moments such as life accomplishments.

Bulleit Bourbon Whiskey partnered with First Time Fest for this year’s film festival. First Time Fest is a five-day event that showcases first films from filmmakers around the globe. It’s a festival aimed at discovering and providing exposure for the next generation of great filmmakers, both locally and globally, and reward the winner with distribution.

I had the opportunity to be invited to the Whiskey Dinner as part of the FTF festival with Bulleit Bourbon.  First Time Fest and Bulleit strive to recognize those who truly push the boundaries of the modern frontier therefore resulting in a perfect marriage. The men and women who make up the film industry are prime examples of how they transform their ideas into realities.

Custom-made tasting mats and a specialty cocktail menu
featured at the intimate whiskey dinner on Friday night at the
Flatiron Room in New York City.

Bulleit Bourbon Whiskey

The First Take (also known as the Bulleit Rye Manhattan) made
with Bulleit Rye is a classic cocktail featured at the whiskey dinner.
(see recipe below)

The ‘First Take’ Recipe

  • 1 oz Bulleit Rye
  • 0.25 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • 3 dash Angostura Bitters

Preparation: Stir. Strain. Serve over ice in a rocks glass with a lemon twist.

Custom-made Bulleit gift bags handed out at the end of the
dinner for media guests including an embroidered bag, bottle of
Bulleit Bourbon, All-Access pass, jotter, and whiskey glass.

The Director’s Cut (also known as the Bourbon County Swizzle)
made with Bulleit Bourbon was one of the featured cocktails at the
whiskey dinner. (see recipe below)

The ‘Director’s Cut’ recipe

  • 1.3 oz. Bulleit Bourbon
  • 1 oz. lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz. simple syrup
  • 0.25 oz. ginger syrup
  • 3 mint sprigs (take off leaves, remove stems)

Preparation: Dry shake, pour into a highball glass, top with ice & swizzle, keeping the mint on the bottom and top with more crushed ice. Garnish with 3 dashes each of Angostura & Peychaud’s bitters, a mint sprig and candied ginger.
