Bulleit Bourbon Whiskey partnered with First Time Fest for this year’s film festival. First Time Fest is a five-day event that showcases first films from filmmakers around the globe. It’s a festival aimed at discovering and providing exposure for the next generation of great filmmakers, both locally and globally, and reward the winner with distribution.
I had the opportunity to be invited to the Whiskey Dinner as part of the FTF festival with Bulleit Bourbon. First Time Fest and Bulleit strive to recognize those who truly push the boundaries of the modern frontier therefore resulting in a perfect marriage. The men and women who make up the film industry are prime examples of how they transform their ideas into realities.
The ‘First Take’ Recipe
- 1 oz Bulleit Rye
- 0.25 oz Sweet Vermouth
- 3 dash Angostura Bitters
Preparation: Stir. Strain. Serve over ice in a rocks glass with a lemon twist.
The ‘Director’s Cut’ recipe
- 1.3 oz. Bulleit Bourbon
- 1 oz. lemon juice
- 0.75 oz. simple syrup
- 0.25 oz. ginger syrup
- 3 mint sprigs (take off leaves, remove stems)
Preparation: Dry shake, pour into a highball glass, top with ice & swizzle, keeping the mint on the bottom and top with more crushed ice. Garnish with 3 dashes each of Angostura & Peychaud’s bitters, a mint sprig and candied ginger.
