The International Beauty Show, one of the longest running professionals-only show in the nation, was in full swing at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City from March 9th to 11th 2014. The annual event included demonstrations from top of the class hair stylist professionals such as Ted Gibson, who showcased some of his latest hair creations on the main stage. There was also something for men too with Jes Sutton offering his ‘Barbering is a Business’ on-site class that focused on barbering skills, branding and marketing. Alexys Fleming was on site to offer up her class on ‘For the Love of Color and Makeup Artistry’ while working with the Mehron Makeup brand through her social networking sites.
US News & World Report cites; ‘The average woman spends a whopping $15,000 on makeup in her lifetime, . . .’ There was no shortage of beauty products at this years’ International Beauty Show. There were more hair products than I anticipated there would be, though there was some make-up and nail brands too. The abundance of hair related brands seemed overwhelming and included everything from extensions, razors, hair-dryers and coloring products. There were also new products being unveiled too such as the Redken 5th Avenue, ‘NEW FLEX Collection’ which is a breakthrough cream-paste for easy shaping and touchable feel of the hair. The exhibition of more hair brands did not seem to hinder attendees who were ready to shop, learn and see the latest trends in this ever changing world we call ‘beauty.’
