Angel Sanchez revealed his latest F/W14 collection titled ‘Dark Innocence’. Lured by the premise of a woman with a secret, dark past, his collection is elegantly restrained for Fall 2014. His inspiration is a woman who appears to be conservative and demure, dressed with monastic elegance while praying for divine power to help her control her darkest dreams.
Sanchez debuted mostly dresses and gowns in a palette of black and white for a sinner and a saint. The collection was accented with hints of metallics, leather and laminated fabric, with a grouping in a brilliant emerald green. Unforgettable pieces included a black silk cocktail dress decorated with strips of leather, chic gunmetal gowns and dramatic evening dresses with silk net inserts adorned with matte sequins.
The fabric color palette for the collection are blacks, winter whites, hunter green, nude, silver and gold. The shapes are very modern and elegantly constructed to perfection. There are lots of texture created too, like a black crepe long sleeve dress with banded leather bodice that he uses on many of his other looks. And how sinful it is to dress with leather accents, which Angel elegantly uses to create some of his looks, with steel plated leather panel gowns and a black jacquard dress with bateau leather pleated bodice and side cut-out.
Angel Sanchez notes on his show program that: ‘Maybe she is a sinner looking for pardon . . . it’s time that I give her some attention’ about the looks in his collection. We adore the winter white crepe and steel lurex gown, with bib bodice detail and cape back to waist, which is sinfully sexy. The Adriana Soto shoes that he uses in this collection is also remarkable and aids to tell the story of the vision for his ‘Dark Innocent’ theme. His craftsmanship is flawless and each look is visually stunning on the runway and almost looks iconic under the floodlights on the catwalks at Lincoln Center.
