Brother and sister designer duo Nicholas K, officially opened Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week with their Native American inspired Spring/Summer 2014 collection titled ‘Shaman’. Color palettes of whites, black and earth brown set the mood along with the flowing fabric drapes of matte gauze and viscose prints of the indigenous people in whom they found inspiration.
There are Maya jackets and moccasin inspired footwear, as well as custom designed jewelry from Andy Lifschutz that complete some of the looks to detail the beauty of this fascinating culture. The silhouettes of a Uri cape or the Kiona alabaster jacket in the first look, with sheer volume of fabric draping demonstrates how well Nicholas K cares about the craftsmanship of each design in this collection.
Then there’s the brilliant make-up by Daniel Martin for NYX Cosmetics and nails by Sunshine Outing for Zoya that is just visually beautiful on the runway with each look, along with long braids, and other gorgeous hair manes on the female models created by Jon Reyman for Aveda. Which look/s are your favorites?
